The Leukemia Research Foundation originated in Chicago, IL in 1946 by Esther Reckles, after her nephew lost his battle with leukemia. Her desire was to raise money for research to find a cure for this type of blood cancer. Over the years the foundation has supported research of other blood cancers including lymphoma and myelodysplastic syndromes.

The foundation funds research worldwide. New investigators’ research is supported exclusively with the grant money raised by the foundation.
