The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was raised up to find a cure for cancers of the blood, mainly leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. This is non-profit society is one of the biggest health organizations that is devoted to help fund research, educate, and serve patients who have a type of blood cancer.
In 1944 the parents of Robert Roesler de Villiers, who was 16 when he lost his battle with leukemia, started raising funds in their son’s name for leukemia research. Soon they became the Leukemia Society and before the society had its current name it was known as The Leukemia Society of America.
