The HEADstrong Foundation began shortly after lacrosse player Nicholas E. Colleluori was diagnosed with large B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He started the foundation to raise blood cancer awareness, fund research to find a cure, and support those with blood cancer diagnosis.

The foundation also has a patient advocacy group, Nick’s House, and provides scholarships. Though he was only expected to live 3 months due to the aggressiveness of the cancer he fought for over a year before he lost his battle. His family and friends kept the foundation going.
